Duke Energy Co.’s nonprofit arm, the Duke Energy Foundation, pledged $1 million in education and response grants for the COVID-19 pandemic, the utility announced Thursday. Brighton Township employees who wanted to wear jeans to work were able to raise over $500 for a local nonprofit organization doing just that. Earlier this month, township employees completed their yearly fundraiser and raised a total of $530 for Blue Star Service Dogs. The Community Agency Response Effort (CARE) Fund will help nonprofits that have increasing needs during the pandemic.
