Duke Energy’s nonprofit arm pledges $1 million in COVID-19-related grants

Duke Energy Co.’s nonprofit arm, the Duke Energy Foundation, pledged $1 million in education and response grants for the COVID-19 pandemic, the utility announced Thursday. One portion of the donation — $450,000 — will go to 50 organizations addressing hunger relief and social services. Another portion — $550,000 — was given to to 22 organizations in the state supporting engineering, energy and environmental education initiatives. The receiving organizations can also use the money to “address unforeseen operational challenges.”
