The WellSky Foundation, a charity that works to improve the quality of life for vulnerable people, gave $100,000 to the STEM Goes Red program of the American Heart Association.
STEM Goes Red was designed to capitalize on the American Heart Association's tradition of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) and raise STEM awareness among young women. STEM Goes Red will use a two-year, $100,000 grant from the WellSky Foundation to give scholarships to women in college who are studying STEM-related subjects and give young women interested in STEM more mentorship and learning opportunities.
By providing young women with first-hand experience in STEM fields and access to experts, employers, and mentors, STEM Goes Red is working to make these careers achievable for all. The WellSky Foundation’s generous gift enables us to continue our mentorship opportunities and increase our educational support to young women pursuing STEM-related careers. We’re thrilled to further expand our services across the Kansas City region.”

WellSky recently took part in a STEM Goes Red mentoring program with high school students in Kansas City Public Schools, bringing together 12 women from WellSky who work in STEM fields with aspiring students. STEM Goes Red believes that these types of educational touchpoints guarantee that female students are informed about STEM career options and are aware of how accessible these jobs are to all students who are interested.
The WellSky Foundation is reducing societal barriers to long-term health and fitness to create thriving communities. The WellSky Foundation has given to 20 groups working on social determinants of health since its founding in 2019.
