Texas Foundation Commits $10 Million to Community Clinics

The Episcopal Health Foundation in Houston, Texas, has announced grants totaling $10 million to community-based clinics across the state.
Part of a five-year initiative to make health care in the state more accessible and equitable while also improving community health, the grants will support efforts to provide a wider range of health services and identify and address the underlying causes of poor health. The grants include $1 million to the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston in support of its efforts to change clinics' internal practices and improve access to effective contraceptive services for low-income women in Harris County; $892,217 to CommUnity Care in Austin to expand a team-based model that includes community health workers, pharmacists, dieticians, and physicians; and $400,000 to the Stephen F. Austin Community Health Network to develop a fully integrated primary care and behavioral health system at multiple clinics in Brazoria and Galveston counties.
