Grant nearly doubles the funding behind the campaign aimed at getting complete count. Will fund statewide, nonprofit outreach to immigrant, hard-to-count populations. Counts will inform federal funding to states for next decade, number of congressional seats and business site decisions. The Michigan Legislature has appropriated a $5 million grant to the Michigan Nonprofit Association to support its statewide outreach aimed at getting a complete count of Michigan residents in the 2020 Census. The grant nearly doubles the funding behind a nonprofit-led census outreach campaign that has been underway since 2017. Approved on Monday, the new funding builds on a $1 million grant the state awarded to MNA last year for census outreach.
