Operation Homefront Receives $500,000 as Grants from the Home Depot Foundation

The national nonprofit organization, Operation Homefront recently announced receiving a $500,000 investment from The Home Depot Foundation for Veteran housing initiatives. The grant will also help expand Transitional Housing Apartments, Operation Homefront’s latest housing program.

The donation from The Home Depot Foundation will assist military families in gaining access to transitional and permanent housing and financial and homeownership education at a crucial juncture as they leave military service, thereby reducing barriers to homeownership and improving their future. The Home Depot Foundation has supported Operation Homefront and donated over $20 million to its mission since 2011.

This donation will also support Operation Homefront’s latest housing program, Transitional Housing Apartments, which offers free accommodation and utilities apartments for honorably discharged veterans within the past four years. In addition, veterans will receive financial counseling and employment to help achieve stability and chart a path to long-term, post-military success apart from one year stay in the apartments.

Operational Homefront’s program has been helping veterans for more than 20 years. It has supported thousands of military families yearly to build a more stable, robust, and secure future.

Brig. Gen. (ret.) John I. Pray Jr., President and CEO of Operation Homefront, said, “Short-term financial challenges can, and often do, derail the hopes our military families have for a stronger, more stable and secure future, and we need to be there for them for all they have done for all of us in our nation’s time of need.” Additionally mentioned, “Our highly regarded Transitional Homes for Veterans program has already saved our families more than $800,000 in housing costs, and we are deeply grateful for the ongoing support of partners like The Home Depot Foundation who share our unwavering passion for helping our military families in their time of need and for making our many life-changing programs possible.”
