Nonprofit to buy old Prineville hospital

A one-stop, mental health and social services center could be coming to Crook County’s 70-year-old Pioneer Memorial Hospital, which has gone unused since it closed 17 months ago. Lutheran Community Services Northwest, a nonprofit organization, has plans to purchase the old hospital, which ended operations when St. Charles opened a new facility in Prineville on Combs Flat Road in September 2015. Lutheran Community Services Northwest, which provides a broad range of services to adults and kids, including mental health counseling, is in talks with Pioneer Memorial Hospital-Prineville , a nonprofit corporation that owns the facility, to buy the 92,000-square-foot hospital for $1.5 million. The purchase is expected to be finalized by the end of March, said Scott Willard, director of health care innovation for Lutheran Community Services Northwest.
