Local United Way announces $546K in grants to nonprofits

The United Way of Greater Texarkana recently announced grant amounts for area nonprofits totalling $546,000 for a variety of programs focused on improving the community. The programs receive quarterly payments from the United Way. "The programs needed to focus on one or more of the following key areas: health, education or financial stability," said Mark Bledsoe, United Way president. Only public schools, government agencies or certified nonprofit agencies in its nine-county service area are eligible to receive funding from the United Way.
