Local nonprofits awarded grants through Community Foundation of West Texas

The Community Foundation of West Texas this week awarded grants to nonprofit organizations around the area. The New West Contemporary Art Museum Plainview (CAMP), Plainview Civic Music Association, Plainview Community Concert Association and Paws Pet Adoption of Plainview were among the 86 recipients. The Community Foundation awarded $690,811 through 114 grants. A news release from the organization shows a breakdown of the funds the grant money was drawn from. They are as follows: Sybil B. Harrington Endowment for the Arts, $140,420; CFWT Fund for Animal Welfare, $39,786; Community Grants, $42,874; Scholarships, $21,496; Other funds (donor-advised and designated), $329,028; and PSC Building Community Fund, $117,207. The funds awarded to the organizations in Plainview were drawn from the Sybil B. Harrington Endowment for the Arts and the CFWT Animal Fund for Welfare. The Community Foundation of West Texas is an organization created to provide a source of funding through philanthropy for nonprofit organizations and community projects within its 15-county coverage area, which includes Hale County.
