Local nonprofit receives Cummings Grant
The Professional Center for Child Development is sharing in this year's Cummings Foundation $25 million grant program. The Andover-based organization has been awarded a $250,000 sustaining grant, to be spent over 10 years. Chris Hunt, executive director and Lindsey Mayo, director of development, represented the nonprofit at a May 2 awards night at TradeCenter 128 in Woburn. With location in Andover and Lawrence, PCCD provides therapeutic and educational services to children of all abilities. As an organization dedicated to meeting needs of children in the local community, PCCD will utilize the grant funds to revitalize its preschool program. “Since introducing our preschool program nearly 20 years ago, family dynamics and expectations of early childhood education programming have changed dramatically, and the support of the Cummings Foundation will allow for a program redesign ensuring that every child that comes through our program is able to achieve their greatest potential regardless of what abilities they have,” Hunt said.
