Gannett Foundation program awards $20,000 grants to two Milwaukee nonprofit organizations

Two Milwaukee nonprofits, Penfield Children's Center and Street Angels Inc., have been awarded $20,000 each as part of a Gannett Foundation program that supports ideas for positive community change and community building.  The program, called A Community Thrives, is a grant-making and crowd-funding program from the USA TODAY Network and is part of the Gannett Foundation. A Community Thrives supports nonprofit organizations with projects focused on community building and has contributed more than $6.5 million in cities around the country since 2017. The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel is part of the USA TODAY Network. Penfield Children's Center provides early education, family services and health and wellness care for children living in Milwaukee County.
