Dollar General Literacy Foundation Awards $4 Million in Grants

The Dollar General Literacy Foundation in Goodlettsville, Tennessee, has announced youth literacy grants totaling more than $3.4 million. Awarded at the start of the academic year to more than nine hundred schools, public libraries, and nonprofit organizations, the grants are designed to help students who are reading below grade level or otherwise experiencing difficulty reading by enabling schools and nonprofits to implement new or expand existing literacy programs; purchase new technology or equipment in support of literacy initiatives; and/or purchase books, course materials, and software for their literacy programs.
