CURE ALZHEIMER'S FUND REACHES $150 MILLION IN RESEARCH GRANTS

Cure Alzheimer's Fund, a nonprofit dedicated to funding the most promising research to prevent, slow or reverse Alzheimer's disease, announced today that it has reached an important milestone—awarding more than $150 million in research grants to many of the leading scientists throughout the world investigating the disease.

Since its establishment in 2004, Cure Alzheimer's Fund (CureAlz) has supported more than 670 innovative projects led by 249 scientists resulting in 948 published peer-reviewed papers in prominent scientific journals. Many of these projects have yielded significant breakthroughs, resulting in findings contributing to new and critical avenues for development of novel treatments.

Funded projects have included:
  • The Alzheimer's Genome Project™, the first large-scale, family-based study of the human genome specific to Alzheimer's disease.
  • A consortium testing large libraries of FDA-approved drugs and natural products to determine those that may be beneficial against Alzheimer's disease.
  • A consortium of experts to expand our understanding of the role of the APOE gene with Alzheimer's disease.

Honda and the Honda USA Foundation's Annual Charitable Funding Cycle Launches Today

Honda and the Honda USA Foundation today announced the opening of its annual funding cycle for eligible nonprofit organizations and schools based on the company's long-standing commitment to give back to the communities where its associates live and work. Applications for funding will be accepted now through the deadline of October 31, 2022, with awards to be announced in spring 2023. Honda and the Honda USA Foundation provide funding to national and local organizations that provide support to communities located near Honda operations and align with the company's five strategic CSR pillars of Education, Environment, Mobility, Traffic Safety and Community. Funding is available through both corporate and the company's Foundation. BayPort Donates Backpacks and Books to Local Students within Boys & Girls Clubs of the Virginia Peninsula

BayPort Credit Union today announced it has donated 500 backpacks to the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Virginia Peninsula (BGCVP), which serves youth across the Virginia Peninsula and surrounding communities including Newport News, Hampton, York, Gloucester, and Mathews County. In addition to the backpack donation, BayPort presented BGCVP a $1,000 Amazon gift card to help purchase new books for their "Power Hour" programming. The backpacks will be distributed to local youth who participate in Money Matters and Career Launch programming, as well as those who are enrolled in the organization's Club Academy. "We are so grateful for the continuous generosity that BayPort provides to our community's greatest asset – our kids.
