First United Methodist Church of Morganton is getting ready to light up the night with a special annual event. The church will hold its seventh Night of Light 5k and Family Faith Fun Run/Walk on Saturday, Dec. 1, with the Fun Run/Walk starting at 5:15 p.m. and the 5k Run starting at 6 p.m. The races will start and finish at the church at 200 N. King St. in Morganton. “The Night of Light 5k is the most festive, fun road race in Morganton,” said Deanne Avery, the event’s organizer. “This is our seventh year, and we always have a great time. It is open to both runners and walkers, and we highly encourage fabulous Christmas and festive attire.” Pre-Registration Packet Pick Up will take place from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 30, in the church’s fellowship hall. Race day registration will take place from 4-5 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 1. Registration fee is $35 for the 5k, with a special senior citizen rate of $25. Registration fees for the Family Faith Fun Run/Walk are $10 for an individual or $25 for a family. Fun Run registration does not include a T-shirt, but participants have the option to buy a shirt for $10. People interested in participating have the option to pre-register online at https://bit.ly/2xKPPVQ or to pick up a paper registration at the church.
