BBB Charity Accreditation elevates trust in nonprofits
Estes Park Trail-Gazette | February 27, 2019
The Better Business Bureau (BBB) advances marketplace trust. They built their reputation in the business sector, elevating consumer's trust in products and services. They now offer an accreditation for charities. Why accredit charities? Donors increasingly seek out third-party information on nonprofits prior to giving and this, in turn, places an emphasis on nonprofit management. Donors can be assured that a charity with the BBB accreditation is a charity in good standing utilizing best practices. An inaugural cohort of eleven Estes Valley nonprofits meet monthly to review a set of standards established by the BBB. The 20 standards for charity accountability include Financial Standards for Nonprofits, Nonprofit Governance and Oversight, How to Measure Nonprofit Effectiveness, Fundraising, and Marketing. The workshops are presented by the BBB Foundation Serving Northern Colorado and Wyoming and the Estes Park Nonprofit Resource Center (EPNRC).
