Applications open for AARP's 2019 Community Challenge grant program

Applications for AARP's 2019 Community Challenge grant program are open. The program will fund "quick-action" projects in local communities. The grant program is part of AARP's nationwide Livable Communities initiative, according to a release from AARP. The challenge is open to nonprofits and government entities. According to AARP, the program will accept applications in five categories: projects that encourage communities to develop programs that engage residents in accessing, understanding and using data to increase quality of life; projects that give permanent or temporary solutions that increase walkability, bikeability, access to transportation options and roadway improvements; projects that create public spaces, improve parks or improve access to amenities; projects that increase accessible and affordable housing options; and other innovative projects to improve the community.
