99.7 CYK collects handbags to donate to nonprofits

For the third straight year, 99.7 CYK has been participating in Handbags for Hope, a donation drive to collect new and gently used handbags to give to mothers in need for Mother's Day. The radio station will be donating those handbags to Georgia's Healing House and the New Directions Center in Augusta County. Over the years, it has collected more than 350 handbags to be given to mothers from Charlottesville and to mothers in the Shenandoah Valley. Tom Morgan said he loves participating in the event because of the impact the event has on women receiving the handbags. "You just don't realize who you help sometimes," said Morgan. "When you make an impact on an individual, it really makes a big difference. We can talk about all the numbers all we want but making a difference one on one with one person, that's what it's all about." The donations to the nonprofits will be made Friday.
