Big Day of Giving raises $278K for EG nonprofits

Twenty-nine Elk Grove nonprofits on May 2 collectively received $278,737 in donations during the sixth edition of the Big Day of Giving. This annual event raises funds to assist Sacramento region nonprofits via online donations during a 24-hour period. The Senior Center of Elk Grove topped all Elk Grove nonprofits, receiving $31,118 in contributions. Elk Grove’s Project R.I.D.E. hosted a Big Day of Giving party where people could make contributions in-person. About 20 Elk Grove nonprofits participated in that gathering, and altogether collected $208,354. Project R.I.D.E., a nonprofit that provides horseback therapy and education to students with disabilities, received $17,063 from online contributions during the event. This organization also received a proclamation from the city of Elk Grove, recognizing their 40th anniversary.
