Atlanta nonprofit testing green technologies signs partnership with state, federal transportation agencies

August 19, 2019 / Dave Williams

A nonprofit named in memory of Ray Anderson, a noted environmentalist and founder and chairman of Interface Inc. (NYSE: TILE), has formalized its partnership with the Georgia Department of Transportation and Federal Highway Administration. The Ray oversees a transportation laboratory along an 18-mile stretch of Interstate 85 southwest of Atlanta that has tested green technologies including solar panels embedded in the highway and a drive-over tire safety inspection station. Until now, The Ray has collaborated with the Georgia DOT through resolutions approved by the State Transportation Board. The partnership, announced Monday with the signing of a formal charter, will solidify the relationship between the state agency and the nonprofit.
