In just two months, the newest fundraising campaign through the Catholic Foundation of South Louisiana raised more than $62,000 for local nonprofits to support women and children in the community. The Mother Theresa Women’s Giving Circle issued six grants to local nonprofits at a ceremony today at the Diocese of Houma-Thibodaux Pastoral Center. “It was our hope that we could bring Catholic women and women of great faith together to learn about the needs of women, children and families here in our diocese and together to take action,” Bishop Shelton Fabre said. Over 100 women joined the new organization after it was formed just two months ago. “With great joy, great excitement, we’re able to grant out $62,500 from you, each one of you together,” said Amy Ponson, executive director of the Catholic Foundation of South Louisiana.
