It is no wonder donor retention is top of mind these days. It costs six to seven times more to acquire a new donor than to retain an existing one, according to research by Chuck Long field, chief scientist at Blackbaud.i Unfortunately, the donor retention rate is abysmal. Long field also discovered that nearly three out of four newly acquired donors leave within the first year. The good news is that lowering attrition rates by only 10 percent can improve the lifetime value of a donor base by up to 200 percent. The ultimate goal is to move donors through the stages of giving: from a one-time giver to a recurring donor, and then to a planned giver who leaves money to the organization as a bequest.

World Hope International Partners With My Medic to Donate $500,000 in Individual First Aid Kits to Ukrainian First Responders

World Hope International | June 30, 2022

Global nonprofit World Hope International (WHI) has partnered with first-aid supplies and training company My Medic to supply 3,000 first aid kits, valued at over $500,000 USD, to emergency first responders who are treating individuals injured as a result of the war in Ukraine. Created by My Medic as an essential trauma kit, the Individual First Aid Kit (IFAK), can mean the difference between life and death for casualties of the ongoing war in Ukraine. The kits include emergency response equipment designed to stop bleeding, stabilize fractures, seal open chest wounds, clear compromised airways, and care for burns and other medical emergencies. To ensure seamless use of the equipment, a delegation of My Medic and WHI medical and crisis response team members traveled to Odesa, Ukraine last week to train over 400 first responders, paramedics and civilian emergency response personnel. The trainers, who focused on how to properly utilize the equipment in each kit, represent over seventy years of experience and have deployed with and trained some of the world’s top crisis response teams. Ordinary citizens and volunteer paramedics are on the front lines of this war. They lack equipment. They lack resources. They lack money. What they do not lack is a force of will to help those severely injured. These first aid kits and training will equip these fearless leaders to save lives.” John Lyon,WHI CEO My Medic CEO David Barlow added, “One of the most rewarding aspects of the partnership is that the training and kits will be implemented immediately to help save lives on the front lines of the war.” The cost of the kits provided to WHI were discounted by My Medic. The donation of the kits and the delegation of trainers deployed to Ukraine were funded by WHI donors. Since Russia invaded Ukraine in February, WHI has delivered over $12 million worth of medical supplies to aid those fleeing the war zone. Efforts have included partnering with churches, governments, and other aid agencies to help refugees in Moldova and Poland and training teams on the ground to watch for evidence of human trafficking. Online Fundraising Platform, Classy, Launches Crypto Giving Powered by Coinbase Commerce

Classy | June 16, 2022

Classy, an online fundraising platform that provides easy and intuitive technology for nonprofits, announces the launch of Crypto Giving. Through an integration with Coinbase Commerce, nonprofit organizations on Classy's platform can receive donations for multiple types of cryptocurrency, as easily as they can accept donations through credit cards, ACH, PayPal or Venmo. Classy's Crypto Giving product allows nonprofits to tap into a new cohort of philanthropic supporters looking to make a difference by donating their cryptocurrency. Crypto Giving makes it easy for them to donate and equally as easy for a nonprofit to accept the donation. Unlike other cryptocurrency offerings for the nonprofit sector, Classy's offering is built directly into the core giving platform, meaning the option to give in cryptocurrency like Bitcoin or Ethereum, lives right on the organization's donation page and is available across multiple campaign types. And because Crypto Giving is built directly into Classy Pay, Classy's nonprofit payment processing tool, transaction reporting happens directly in-product, alongside all other donations. This offering for Classy's customers comes at a time when cryptocurrency donations have seen an uptick in mainstream activity, such as $60M in cryptocurrency donated as a result of the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine. While the world of cryptocurrency is evolving quickly, Crypto Giving positions nonprofits to tap into this network of donors as it becomes increasingly ubiquitous. The addition of cryptocurrency to our portfolio of payment options is representative of Classy's continued efforts to develop the most impactful and purposeful fundraising technology. No other nonprofit fundraising solution has this type of functionality, across multiple campaigns, built natively into their platform. Nonprofits can now tap into new networks of donors and drive higher conversion rates, all with an easy back-end experience that provides almost immediate data." Christopher Himes, CEO of Classy At launch, cryptocurrency donors will also be given the option to help offset the environmental impact of their donation by making a one-off individual environmental offset donation via Offset Alliance. Offset Alliance is a certified B Corp that helps make it simple to take measurable and meaningful climate action. Coinbase Commerce Product Manager Roy Zhang commented: "Crypto donations have become an increasingly popular and effective way for nonprofits to raise funds. Accepting crypto as an additional donation option allows nonprofits to reach a wider base of donors, and offers consumers more flexibility when donating to causes they care about. We're thrilled that Coinbase Commerce is powering Classy's Crypto Giving solution and we're excited to see more donors drive positive impact through crypto." About Classy Classy, an affiliate of GoFundMe, is a Public Benefit Corporation and giving platform that enables nonprofits to connect supporters with the causes they care about.
