Philanthropy New York to Move to Ford Foundation Social Justice Center

Philanthropy New York, a regional association of grantmakers headquartered in New York City, has announced that it will be moving its offices, conference facilities, and member services to the newly renovated and renamed Ford Foundation Center for Social Justice on Manhattan's East Side in early 2019. A professional community of approximately two hundred and eighty private, corporate, family, and public grantmaking organizations based in the tri-state region, Philanthropy New York provides a broad range of services to philanthropic professionals and trustees of those organizations. With the move, the organization will have access to larger, more flexible spaces featuring the latest in videoconferencing and digital technologies. In the spring of 2016, the Ford Foundation announced a renovation plan for its landmarked headquarters building on East 43rd Street that was designed to make the structure less "hierarchical" and reduce its environmental footprint. When it opens in December after two years of work, the Ford Foundation Center for Social Justice will feature a design that emphasizes openness, accessibility, and possibilities for collaboration; an art gallery where visitors can discover artists whose work engages issues of justice; a state-of-the-art auditorium; and the building's landmarked atrium garden. In addition to  Ford's renovated offices, the building also will have 54,000 square feet of meeting space for use by grantees and nonprofits working to advance change in the U.S. and globally. The United Nations Foundation and the Nonprofit Coordinating Committee of New York will join Philanthropy New York as tenants in the newly renovated building.
