The Chan Zuckerberg Initiative on Tuesday poured $2.5 million into the coffers of three dozen local organizations, including several dedicated to addressing the Bay Area housing shortage. The philanthropy organization launched by Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg and his wife, Priscilla Chan, listed 37 nonprofits that will be receiving checks to support the work they’re doing in San Mateo County where Facebook is based. That money will help tackle community issues including housing and homelessness, education, immigration, transportation and workforce development. Recipients include Habitat for Humanity Greater San Francisco and HIP Housing both of which received $75,000.
