The annual fundraising event is a huge revenue-driver for many nonprofits, but they often struggle to scale results year over year. Then there are organizations like Athletes 4 Cancer (A4C), who execute a ninth annual event that raises a whopping $123,422—a record fundraising yield. Fundraisers alone raised $76,506 on the Classy platform, with the average fundraising page bringing in $941. The flagship two-day event, Kiteboarding 4 Cancer (KB4C), rallies participants to kiteboard race and support A4C’s camp survivorship programs. To maximize fundraising results, A4C motivated supporters to fundraise for entry into the event. With the help of CauseMic—a digital cause marketing and fundraising consulting firm—A4C’s main focus is to help fundraisers reach personal success and plan a fundraising event that gets attendees excited. None of this could be possible without the extensive preparation and strategy beforehand.

Microsoft, in collaboration with non-profit organizations and other companies, have been leading an effort to develop the Nonprofit Common Data Model (CDM), with a goal of providing non-profit organizations, technology vendors, and technology consultants one common language to represent key data points and data entities within every non-profit organization.

The organization, which has been in operation for five years, was informed last Thursday that Manny Slomovits, executive chef for Levy at Staples Center, needed to unload perishable food after the arena was forced to cancel events due to the spread of the coronavirus in Los Angeles County. By Friday, 12 pallets of food had been delivered to the Midnight Mission and Los Angeles Mission located near Skid Row. The food was not only delivered and dispersed, but presented in a fashion rarely seen by those facing food insecurity.
